Actions By Baseball Fan - Are they ever subject to ruling?

Watching Yankees and Texas. I thought a fan screwed up a Yankee fielders good attempt to catch a foul ball for an out. Is that subject to a ruling where it could be deemed a catch for the out. Did the umps look and decide this one did not qualify? What about other situations where fan actions (accidental, clueless or intentional) interfere with the ball or the players?
