What are the chances I have throat cancer?

I am 19. About 5 years ago I tried to agressively gargle up clem from the back of my throat, but it went wrong and was bleeding for half an hour. Ever since I tried not to ever carry out the same action. But over the past few days I have noticed that my throat is sore and I have pain when swallowing. I haven't got a really bad cold. What else could it be if it's not throat cancer? I hope so much that it isn't :(
